Taupo

25 Feb

We are getting ready to head off on a 6 day adventure in Taupo! Mr W, Miss D and myself are joining my parents and my Gran in a lovely unit right by the lake! My family has been going for as long as I can remember, although I haven’t been there every year. But we did go the last 2 years.

Here is Miss D enjoying the private spa last year:

She is a whole year older (she must have only been about 7 months old last year!) so it should be lots of fun this time! We are already planning on spending a day at the Taupo Mineral Spa (complete with hydroslides!)

I don’t know what the internet connection will be like so I may not post anything until we are home. Sadly Mr W wont be able to stay with us the whole time… some people have to work! So he will be flying solo back home for about 4 days!

Right the babe is awake so I better go get her up! Have a wonderful week everyone!

The one who makes me smile!

My little lady is such a joy and delight! Every day she does something to make me smile… I love her so much! Here are 2 photos of our latest activities.

Christchurch – Day 3

24 Feb

Meeks from Juggling Motherhood wrote a excellent post yesterday which is well worth a read. She has links to important information, photos and a very good list of things we need to know for next time.

There are many ways that New Zealanders can help. The obvious one is to make a donation, the Red Cross and the Salvation Army are taking donations on their websites.

Stuff has a list that they recently added of different places you can make a donation… click here to see it.

Here are a few other ways:

If you live in West Auckland, The Parents Centre posted this on Facebook today: There is a truck leaving West Auckland provided by Tegal that is taking donations of blankets, tinned food, bottled water, nappies, sanitary pads, animal food. This is leaving tomorrow (Friday). All goods can be dropped of at the McLaren Park & Henderson South Community Initiative, 64d Bruce McLaren Road, Henderson

If you live in Dunedin then this one is for you, again posted on Facebook: Bake 4 Quake: Heidi McQuillan has secured a commercial kitchen in ChCh, unaffected by quake, and will leave today (Thursday) to make food for those in need. Donations of non-perishable baked goods (appropriately packaged), baking ingredients and coffee beans can be made to the Centre for Innovation reception (87 St David St, Dunedin) and will be transported to ChCh at 5pm Thursday 24 Feb.

My heart aches for all those affected by the earthquake! I know that I personally can’t do much to help but the hubby and I will be doing all we can.

Christchurch Earthquake

23 Feb

Words can’t express the pain that Christchurch, and New Zealand is feeling at the moment! Yesterday Christchurch was hit with another big (6.3) earthquake. This time it was so much closer to the city and it happened at lunch time on a working day.

Buildings have been flattened and many lives lost! The power is still out to 80% of the city and there is no water or sewage systems!

Thankfully for my family all of our extended family members are safe, although their houses are not. My Aunt and Uncle can not live in their house any more, 2 chimney’s fell into the house. It is amazing that nobody was at home at the time or the outcome could have been way worse. My Godmother is alive and can still live in her house, she is very lucky as she still has power and internet. And my dear friend Jenny, her husband and 1 year old daughter are safe as well. Their house has been hit hard, the neighbours house is crushed. I am praying that they are doing ok today, they have no means of communication as they are saving their cell phones for emergencies.

If you want to read more you can head to TVNZ, TV3, or Stuff.

My thoughts and prayers go our to everyone in Christchurch and those outside still waiting to hear from loved ones!

Michael Buble

21 Feb

I’m a BIG Michael Buble fan! I would love to see him live, but for now my stereo will have to be good enough!

I thought I’d share one of my favourite songs with you today… even though I have found the love of my life, this song is super catchy. And I think his music videos are funny :)

So if you click here you can go have a watch. I can’t seem to share it on my own page :)

Today is the 20th of February… I happened to stumble upon this photo of Miss Delightful on this very day last year. Isn’t she just the cutest thing ever?? :)
