Well we are now at the end of Wednesday and I am sore… but feeling good!
I have been working hard this week, Monday evening I went for my first run followed by the push-up challenge. Tuesday Miss D and I walked around the Zoo with friends (we got passes, so will be going LOTS!) and in the evening Mr W and I did our first sit-up challenge. This evening I went out for my second run with a dear friend and then did the days push-ups.
I can tell you now that my abs, my arms and my legs are so so so very sore! I will be surprised if I can walk tomorrow! hehe. But it’s all going to be worth it… I signed up for a Triathlon today! It’s the same one that I completed last year but I am doing it later in the year this time, which means it won’t be here, but we will have to head up to Auckland. I don’t mind though, it means my parents can come cheer me on without having to travel! And this year I have been blessed with a friend joining me, so we can train together and she can get me out when I’m feeling lazy!
So tomorrow I will just do my sit-ups, Friday will be another run and the push-ups and then Saturday I’ll get out for another bike ride. It means that I am doing something every other day, and that will continue for the next 8 weeks!
In other fantastic news, I am waiting to see a specialist about my stomach pains. I had an appointment for the end of May, but today I got a letter in the mail from the hospital asking me to come in early April! So much sooner. It means I just need to get through the next month and a half, and hopefully the specialist will figure out what is going on.
Now I am going to attempt to make my way to the bedroom (very slowly), I’m going to curl up in bed and read one of the 3 books I have to read!

According to the official results, I completed the triathlon in 1 hour and 8 minutes! Which means that I came in 99th out of 128 people. Not bad considering it was my first one! Now I have something to work towards next time

Yay! Today I completed my first Triathlon! It was actually kind of fun
I enjoyed the swim and the bike parts but found the run tough. Although I did manage to run down the hill and over the finish line!
We think that I completed the whole thing in about 1 hour and 10 minutes, but the official times are still to be released.
Here are a couple of photos of the event:
That’s me in the pool on the far side, it was the start of the 300 metre swim -

This is the finish line, although it’s not me crossing it

Now I need to choose another event to get ready for!!

This afternoon I completed my race registration for tomorrow and collected my race number!

Tonight I need to pack a bag with all the things I will need, get the bike on the back of the car and try to get to bed early.
Hopefully I survive the triathlon tomorrow so I can let you all know how it goes!
Fingers crossed I make it to the finish line!

Tonight I went for my last swim before the big day. Tomorrow I am going to take it easy, I might go for a walk but no biking, running or swimming. In the afternoon I have to go complete my race registration, collect my race number, timing thingy and goodie bag! And then at 8am on Saturday morning it all begins… well that’s the time I have to be there to drop my bike off and everything else I might need for the race. The actual kick off time is 9am!
I am feeling both nervous and excited. I could be fitter if I had tried harder, but I am impressed with how fit I am. I can’t believe that in 2 days time I will be able to say that I have completed a triathlon!!
And on that note, I am going to head to bed. Remember to hug someone you love and smile at someone you don’t

Until my big triathlon! I am getting really nervous for it… I don’t want to know how I will be feeling on Saturday morning!
The training hasn’t gone as well as I had hoped, life got a bit crazy over Christmas/New Years and moving! But I think I am doing well. Yesterday I went for a 10km bike ride followed by a 3km run immediately after. I did the bike ride in 33 minutes (but I got lost 3 times so that slowed me down! hehe) and I did the run in 25 minutes. Strangely my second lap of the run was faster than the first! I went back out for a run this morning and managed the whole 3kms about a minute and a half faster than yesterday! My legs are not very happy with me at the moment, but it definitely is a great way to start the day!
The key will be finding something to keep me going after Saturday. Once I have done the triathlon I wont be “training” for anything. And knowing myself, I will loose a lot of the motivation to keep getting out. So I guess that means I have to find something else to sign up for!
As much as I hate running, I am enjoying the biking, and the increased energy that I have. And I don’t seem to be craving as much sweet food, although I will never give up my chocolate!
