December7

Hi everyone, Mr Wonderful here. Yes, I have taken over this blog for a special review for the lovely folk at Bakers Delight. They were kind enough to provide us with a pack of their Christmas Mince Tarts, and asked the question: “When is the time when you start to feel Christmassy?”.
Well, it’s funny they should ask that, because just last week one of my workmates went across the road and bought some supermarket Christmas Fruit Mince Pies. As soon as we bit into them, we all knew that Christmas had arrived. I guess it’s similar to the first bite of a Cadbury Cream Egg at Easter time – there’s just something about the taste that helps define the season!
So the taste of a fruit mince pie is when Christmas began for me this year, and it was nothing but a pleasure to sample Bakers Delight’s take on this festive tradition.
But STOP THE PRESS!! As I was heating up two pies (one for my wife, one for myself) on HIGH for 8 seconds (scientifically proven by myself to be the optimal fruit mince tart microwave setting – there have been many a burnt tongue over the years!) it was revealed that my wife had NEVER actually tried one before! I was flabbergasted to say the least. She had just assumed her whole life that the fruit mince was the same as what makes up a fruit cake or Christmas pudding. Oh no, dear, these little treats are packed full of delicious apple, raisins, sultanas, dates, spices, and yes, plenty of sugar! The pastry is firm on top, soft underneath, and melts in your mouth. The sprinkling of icing sugar leaves a lingering sweetness on your lips after having devoured the fruit and pastry combo.
If you too know of anyone who has yet to enjoy the sweet taste of Christmas Mince Tarts, then don’t bother with generic supermarket ones, try these ones from Bakers Delight. For 8 seconds. With vanilla ice cream. Delish!
