Glasses

26 Nov

The other day my cutie stole my glasses… and decided she was going to wear them!

Hopefully she wont need to wear any of her own for a few more years!

Outdoor Playhouse

21 Nov

This weekend some friends of ours moved house and decided that they no longer needed their daughters outdoor playhouse. So they very kindly offered it to Miss Delightful!

We had to dismantle it to get it through the gate, so we spent the afternoon putting it back together. She hasn’t had a play in it yet but I imagine she will have hours of fun! And I’m going to see if we can maybe even give it a fresh coat of paint!

My Big Girl

12 Nov

This afternoon we set up Miss Delightful’s big girl bed! We didn’t intend for her to sleep in it, we just set it up so she could get used to the idea. She was so excited about it all that she decided when she was in the bath that she was definitely going to sleep in it tonight!

Here she is all snuggled up! She has now been in bed for just under an hour and we haven’t seen or heard from her! Mr Wonderful did go and check on her a little while ago and she was still awake but just lying there.

We have our fingers crossed that she falls asleep and stays asleep tonight. But the cot is there if she needs to go back!

Freakeys

3 Nov

A few days ago I saw that Jenny from Practically Perfect was giving away some cute Freakeys, which are cute key covers. I hadn’t seen them before but though Miss D would enjoy them! They arrived in the post today and she couldn’t open the package fast enough!

She had so much fun taking them out and lining them up.

I have been allowed to use one on my key ring, but Daddy wasn’t even allowed to look at them! Now I will have no trouble finding the front door key! Thanks Jenny!

Kindy Girl

26 Oct

Today was a big day in our house… Miss Delightful had her first morning at Kindy! I can’t believe that this day has come!

She was so excited to go to kindy… she even did a little dance walking out to the car:

And then asked for her photo to be taken in the car:

She will be doing 2 sessions each week at her kindy, one morning and one afternoon. Today’s session went really well. She didn’t cry or make a fuss when I dropped her off and according to the teachers she coped amazingly well with all the new experiences! She is already talking about going back next week :)

Banished

21 Oct

As of three days ago this item was banished from our house:

From about 4 weeks old Miss D has had a dummy/pacifier to help her sleep. It has been a life saver and a fantastic calming tool. But she has always had issues with dry itchy spots on her face and we don’t think the dummy helps much. We have been talking about removing it for a while, but the other day her face was looking particularly bad and I decided it was time to be banished.

We talked about how her face was a bit red and sore, and how the dummy was hurting her cheeks. Then we talked about how babies use dummy’s not big girls. And then I asked her what she thought we should do, her suggestion was to put it in the rubbish bin. We didn’t act right away, we left it out where she could see it and talked about it a few more times. When Mr Wonderful got home from work we talked about it again and she still thought we should throw it away. We left her to it, she trotted off to her room and came back with her precious dummy, she said goodbye to it and put it in the rubbish bin.

We fully expected to get very little sleep that night. But we were pleasantly surprised! She went to sleep with no problems, but woke up at 8pm crying. I could tell she was trying to find her dummy in her bed, so I went in and reminded her that she put it in the rubbish bin and that we didn’t have any more. Once she calmed down she went back to sleep and we didn’t hear another noise from her until 6:30am! We woke up thinking that we were very lucky, and that the next night would be worse.

But again we were surprised. Last night she went to bed with no fuss, fell asleep quickly and we didn’t hear from her until 6:15am! I realise that it takes more than 2 days to break a habit, but we are off to a good start. Tonight may be the worst night yet… but at this stage, I have to say I am very proud of my little lady! The next big change to come her way will be a big girl bed… but we might leave that for a while!
