Busy Life

5 Apr

It’s easy to say that life has been busy.. which it has.. but right now I can’t really think of anything to write about.

I came across this website today, it’s filled with lots of funny cartoons.

I especially liked this one:

New top

1 Apr

Last week I attempted something I have never done… I made myself a new top! I have never tried to make clothing for myself (except for some pyjama pants years ago!).

I didn’t follow a tutorial, I made it all up… I have a top that I love to wear, so I used that to make a pattern and then figured out how to put it together by studying the original top.

I am so very happy with how it turned out! I think I am going to take it in just a little bit on the sides, it’s fine as it is, but I think it will give it a bit more shape with this minor adjustment.

I have a different material that I am going to use to try another top (also from my wardrobe)… hopefully that one is just as successful as this one.

The 2 things I love the most about this is that it only cost me $6 to make, and I am the only person in the world with this top! I think I might get addicted to making my own clothes :)

Overnight Oats

25 Mar

I have fallen in love with a new breakfast! Overnight oats are just fantastic… even Mr Wonderful declared them delicious!

I found the idea on Pinterest, and thanks to Pepper Lynn I am now in breakfast heaven :)

This breakfast is so easy to make, and can be adjusted to suit anyone’s taste preferences. And I didn’t believe her when she said “cold oats taste great”… I thought ewww yuk! But guess what?? They are yummy! I have tried zapping mine in the microwave for a few seconds to take the fresh fridge chill off, but they are good straight out of the fridge too!

In fact, I enjoyed it so much the other day that I am off to make some to put in my fridge tonight… I’m looking forward to breakfast already!

Enjoy!

Websites I love

22 Mar

I have been finding a few new blogs to add to my google reader lately… I am moving away from the crafty ones (I still follow lots of these!) and I am now looking for ones that are more Christian focused. This may not be applicable to all my readers, but I thought I would share anyway in case someone out there is looking for a bit of encouragement.

So here are my 4 newest blogs:

What is Mod Squad? (from the blog)
The MODsquad Blog exists to encourage and inspire moms to raise daughters with purity, character, and hearts for God.

We hope to do this through engaging posts that speak to your heart, by sharing resources we find to help you as a mom raising daughters, praying together for our girls, and connecting as a community.

What is When You Rise? (from the blog)

This blog is written by 2 ladies, who want to encourage and inspire woman and mothers. They have fantastic ideas for teaching children about God, and wonderful ways of growing in your own faith.

What is Lil Light o’ Mine? (from the blog)

Lil Light of Mine™ was conceived with the mom’s style and the child’s heart in mind—something you’ll see in every product we create for you and your loved ones. The fact is, if our little ones are going to learn and remember something important, they must see and be engaged by it every day.

Courtney creates gorgeous things for your home that will can also be used as a teaching tool. She shares many wonderful ideas on her blog.

What is Exceptionally Average? (from the blog)

Kelly describes herself as an average person who has Jesus by her side. She wants women to accept ourselves for who we are while asking God to make us complete. You see, we’re exceptional in God’s eyes. He’s made each of us uniquely equipped to fulfill a specific purpose. Too many times I’ve looked at the ways I was different from the norm as a negative, but in reality, we’re all supposed to be uncommon in certain areas of our lives.

I hope that one (or all of these) may have something special to offer you!

And I hope that you all have a fantastic last few days of the week :)

Blueberry Muffins

22 Mar

This afternoon Miss D and I had a rather rare afternoon at home with nothing planned! So we baked! We haven’t done any baking in ages, because most things I bake are so delicious and full of good things that I am guaranteed to be in pain that night!

But these blueberry muffins looked too good to pass up, especially with the title of “Insanely Good Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins”! I found the recipe over at Skinny Taste. I absolutely LOVE Gina’s blog, everything looks delicious… and the things we have tested have been fantastic!

Anyway… so we made these amazing blueberry muffins:

If you want to try these (and I highly recommend you do)… head over here to find the recipe!

My notes would be… I used Rice Milk instead of Almond Milk because that was what I had, I also used frozen blueberries but I thawed them before adding them, and my muffins needed a few minutes longer, maybe 28 minutes instead of 25!
